Buying Your First Apartment

At around age 19 or 20 most young people start thinking about leaving the home where they have lived their whole lives and moving into a place of their own. Usually an apartment is housing that is most adequate for their age and lifestyle. Of course, the first thing they should think of is their financial situation, then comes planning location, and then choosing the apartment that best fits your personal needs and style. These ideas while assist you in choosing the right apartment for suitable living.
Your budget should be first in mind before you even move out. If you"re a college student working thirty hours a week, it is unlikely that you could pay $1000.00 a month for rent. That's just too out of your price range. You should put together a budget figuring in all your bills, like power, water, phone, cable, or any other expenses you have. A way to inquire about rates is to call around different apartments to check out any move in specials or deals you could possibly run in to. All of this is most important before anything else because if your income is not high enough, you end up stuck in a lease and not being able pay rent, therefore ruining your credit.
The next important step is finding the right location. Where do you work? Do you drive a car or walk? What are your hobbies? It would be ridiculous to move in an apartment an hour a way from your job. It is not worth the time and money. Also do you want to stay near family or get as far as you can from them? In my case I wanted to be close enough where if I needed help, my family would be close by. If you are looking in Charlotte there are a lot of areas to look at. There are good sides and bad sides of town. For a single female living by herself, security is definitely an issue.
Now comes the fun part: setting up appointments and finding open houses to view different homes. If you were planning on having a roommate, the first priority would be to find a two bedroom.
