Ethical Issues: Euthanasia

As a little kid, I was always dreaming about being that soldier that would one day come home from a war and be considered a hero. Well sadly it dose no happen like that any more. If it dose, it is not an every day thing. What happened to all the other people who come home from a war and just move on to their every day lives. There is no welcoming party, or a ceremony in their honor weighting for them when they step of a plane. Well I happen to have a hero at home that I never realized till a couple of years ago.
Back in 1969, My dad was fresh out of boot camp. He was told some weeks later to say his goodbyes to his family because he was going to war. After that he was shipped off to a far away land, where he had no friends and was on his own. All he had was a faint memory of his loved ones. Every day he risked his life so he could feel satisfied. Satisfied that he is protecting his loved ones, their future, and his country. There were days that he thought he would no live to see the next day. But through all the times he felt that, something pulled him through it and made him become the man he is now. A man who has earned great respect from others, and a man who would do anything for his family. No questions asked.
There is no set of guidelines set in stone describing the characteristics of a hero.
These days it is very hard to find someone that can live up to the expectations of a hero in today's society. But, what about all the unsung hero's. The people that risked their lives for something they believe in. They don't get medals or a shiny trophy. All they get is the satisfaction that they did something that is not done every day. Even thought my dad was not in the newspaper or on the cover of people magazine, in my heart I feel that he has done things other people could not ever achieve or live up to. To me he is the beast hero and that feeling will never die. As my dad told me when I wanted to quit things, "Pain last only a moment, But Pride last forever.
