Getting Hooked on the North

So far, the trip was a great break from our fast-paced everyday lives. Finally, we arrived at the much awaited location!.
The grave distress and commotion that followed our arrival was not foreseen by anyone. We all checked in and had the customary tour of the lodge facilities and grounds. However, to everyone's dismay, we found poor accommodations and food menu. The immediate impression if everyone in the car was shock. It turned out to be small shacks placed in the middle of nowhere. All of us thought, "I paid all this money for this." The realization of the low class lodge and facilities started to sink in, and this began the tension within the family. It was a low class vacation by my grandparents standards. The getaway was a great distance at a great expense for the very little that was offered. Recreational activities were scarce compared to the interpretation of the brochure. There was a feeling of initial let down for the high expectations we had.
A decision was made that we would have a group meeting over the issue to return home or stay and "tough it out". My grandparents wanted to leave, but my family wanted to remain after we paid major money for this trip. This caused a distinct rift between my grandparents and family. The getaway was definitely not going to be suitable for my grandparents. However, since my parents took a week off of work, we mutually decided to stay. As the hour was late, we all decided to retire for the rest of the night. What was to come next was not a pleasant week.
The morning came, and there was a pleasant aroma that drifted through the air. It seemed to stretch out to every being possible. The smell was one of awakening magnitude; fresh breakfast was being prepared in the main lodge. The crispness and freshness of the morning also filled the air. Natural scents of the trees, flowers, and lumber filled our nostrils. The sun reflected off the dew-covered grass.
