This is highly frowned upon by the National Collegiate Athletic Association or the NCAA. The NCAA runs all collegiate sports at every college. Some colleges are even punished for their recruiting procedures by the NCAA, for having wild parties or giving the recruits merchandise. .
Getting the athletes to come to the school is not the only part of college football that is getting away from tradition. Once at the school some athletes have trouble keeping themselves out of trouble. "There was a running back, Lawerence Phillips, dragging his girlfriend by her hair down a flight of stairs and a defensive lineman, Christian Peter, accused of rape." (Simply No End in Sight to These Transgressions, Freeman) Breaking the law is not an uncommon occurrence on college campuses, but these players are not always charged for their wrong doings. Some of these players are seen as to good to have to pay for their crimes. Not all players are as lucky. "Adrian McPherson, promising quarterback for Florida State, cashed a $3,500 stolen check." (The Year in Review, King) He was then kicked off the team and out of the school for his crime. He is not the only player to be punished, he is just one of the most recent cases to have this happen. Many players are kicked off teams for breaking rules and that often happens when the press gets hold of the crime and the college can't keep it from getting out. .
Players do not always have problems off the field. Some players have troubles with there teammates, and in some cases the fans. "He had never really fit in with the team, not before the infamous "93 miss and certainly not after." (Feinstein 76) A kicker who missed what would have been the game winning kick in 1993, did not make many friends in the locker room after that. Many players were angered that this kicker had cost them the game and they wanted nothing to do with him. His teammates were not the only problems for this kicker.
