My Commitment to America

America is known as the land of opportunity for those of us coming here from foreign lands and nations to even those who are in need of a second chance. Over and over again throughout history people have come here to succeed, and to follow our heroes before them that have laid out the path for success. The history of our great nation opened up countless rights that even today are necessities to the freedom so many of us take for granted. I believe that the people of our country are the ones who make it the great land it is. The only real problem left to solve is that since my country gave to the people, including myself, the chance to pursue happiness how can the favor be returned?.
First off many may inquire of who these heroes of the past are, and why do they deserve the reverence that many of them get. There were famous rebels of their times such as Frederick Douglass, the slave escaped to preach freedom in the north, and the more common Martin Luther King Jr. who led the forefront of the Civil rights movement to end segregation and discrimination towards his people. Although Martin Luther mainly defended African Americans, his impact on the definition of freedom in America expands to every race and religion ever discriminated against. We can even look to sports where the freedom barrier was broken by Jackie Robinson allowing not only blacks to play professional sports and make a career out of it, but there are also Hispanics and Asians now in every sport that can acquire just as much fame and wealth through their hard work as the next guy. It is people like these that have shaped and molded America into the opportunistic country it is today.
Government also adapted in favor of opportunity for people from all reaches and situations on Earth. The constitution protects minority rights by protecting against majority tyrannical rule which the founders implemented when drafting the constitution.
