Harriet Tubman

             Harriet Tubman.
Harriet Tubman was born in the Brodas plantation. Minty stayed with her mother until she was six. Minty didn't have to big of an idea who she was and what her purpose was. All she knew is that she was at a plantation, a slave, and almost old enough to be hired out. Minty had no idea what her later life would lead too. Throughout the cabins she heard means of escaping slavery and living free. Minty always loved hearing stories of the such, and was interested in the idea.
As a child Minty played with the other children, stayed close to her parents, and did as any other child would do. Minty was always very smart, good at understanding, and interested in things her elders would talk about. At the age of six Minty was hired out. Minty was very scared of the idea, for she would be leaving her home. Minty had about four families she had been hired out to. The first was ok, the second made her do jobs she hated, the third was not too bad, and the fourth beat her pretty bad. Once back at the plantation around the age of thirteen she went outside to see what all was happening, when a man tried to for some reason shoot another man; accidentally hitting Minty. Old Rit took care of her for a long time until she became well. Though to Minty it seemed she never got better with the everlasting headaches. .
Around sixteen Minty's name changed to Harriet. As an older child she was hired to work in the fields, picking food and resources. Harriet enjoyed this better than being a house slave, for there was other slaves to associate with. Through out the cabins the slaves would be talking about freedom out and in, all the time. Harriet loved talking about these matters, for it seemed so possible and wonderful. Harriet only remembered the times she had tried to escape as a child from the families. Only later to be caught, or forced to come back from hunger.
