Childhood vs. Teenager


             When you"re three years old, your life is free and interesting. Your eyesight is aligned with most adults" kneecaps. You are constantly learning day-by-day. Everything is like something new, something to capture, and something to cling on to. .
             With my parent's at work and my sister enjoying her first year of elementary school, I was often shipped off to my grandparent's house. I assure you, it wasn't that bad. From watching bowling tournaments on TV with my grandfather to creating new flavors of Jell-O with my grandmother, it never got boring.
             My summers were nothing less then fun. I spent my days enjoying the ocean, sand, and sun of Cape Cod Our house in Chatham, turned into be a haven for me. It was the one place where I knew everyone was happy, my parents relaxing and enjoying themselves and my sister and I finger-painting the blue prints of our future sandcastle. .
             .
             However, my favorite nights were those where around dusk we would walk up to Main Street, with the sun setting and the smell of sizzling hamburgers cooking on the grill. Wearing shorts and sweatshirts we would indulge in ice cream. The colossal kid's sized cone seems like a mountain of pure chocolate chip ice cream and jimmies. Dripping and smothering all over myself, I was a target for the bath. .
             Neverless, I did experience weekly trips to the playground. Having working parents it was often hard to have time with just my parents and my sister but we managed it. Every Sunday we would head out to the park. My favorite activity was flying round-and-round on the tire swing. Never in my life has 2 miles per hour seemed so fast.
             All in all, when I was little life was easy. I didn't have to worry about doing my homework, cleaning up after myself or getting a job. Everything was done for you. And what wasn't done, you learned how to do yourself. Life itself was a constant vacation. You watched TV whenever you wanted and played all day.
