Medical Marijuana

Today over hundreds of books have been written on the therapeutic use of marijuana but because of the popularity of marijuana as a recreational drug many debates of the use of marijuana is by moral and cultural beliefs than by scientific evidence. Since the discovery the first endocannabinoid, a chemical in the body that resembles those found in cannabis scientists have began to unravel the positive effect of the "gate way drug" Medical marijuana should be legalized because of its helpful effects on patents suffering from cancer, HIV, and epilepsy.
Many people around the world are suffering and dying slowly of cancer, and many have been put through the harsh side effect of chemotherapy. The side effects can be so devastating that patients abandon therapy or suffer diminished quality of life.
One side affect is nausea, in 1990 a survey stated that 44% of oncologists suggests that their patents smoke marijuana for relief to their stomachs. Due to medical marijuana being illegal for medical use it forces those who are in pain to be using it illegally to relieve them selves from severe nausea. If marijuana were really as harmful as the DEA seems to think, then it would be unheard of for any physician of any type to suggest their patients use it. Medical marijuana is primarily for relief from the symptoms of disease rather than as a cure. .
Being that it has been proven more than once that marijuana can really help those in dire need of it I can not see why the DEA still enforce this law. Not only does it help those suffering from cancer its also helps those suffering form the fatal diseases such as HIV. Many patients have found it to help stimulate their appetites helping them to eat when suffering away in the wasting process of the HIV and Aids infection. Many providers have also been impressed with positive results in weight gain and mood in those who smoke medical marijuana.
