Mass Media Effects

Very few people in today's world can escape mass media and it's effects. There's lots of concequences from the mass media. The mass media consists of tv, computers, newspapers and other publications. It is called the mass media because it is read by the many different types of people. Being that many people watch tv they are affected when they watch tv, for example.
As Americans we think we are individuals. Theirs tv everywhere. You can get real sucked in by it. We get influenced by the mass media. You might claim your individuality by the music you listen to, the movies and television shows you watch, and things you read. These things can have a big affect on you and your life. You might think you have your own style, but you really don't. Look how Justin timberlake started to rip off on Micheal Jackson and then said it was his own style. I think really it was the mass media. He maybe thought it was his because he watched to much Mtv. That's how the mass media can influence people in society. There is lots of information in society. We live in the information age. We know a lot more than our parents. We were exposed to a lot of mass media influence. Information can tell you who you are. We share in common the lives of characters on television, our favorite channels, our favorite opinions, writers who influence us, websites we visit. This is how Americans seem to come to know each other. It happens a lot more now than in our parents time. Being that the mass media is owned by a few corporations is a surprise that Americans think they are watching things they like. Many Americans seem to believe that what they choose to watch is their own choice, it really isn't. Liberal, Green Party, pot smoking, frisbee playing, hippie college kids may love watching a channel like Comedy Central or Mtv. While Rush Limbaugh is choking down a fat cigar, day dreaming about overturning Roe vs. Wade, he may be watching a conservative news program on a channel owned by the same parent company.
