It contains scrubland bordered by forests in the north. This area contains small mountain ranges and long rivers such as the Sao Francisco, Araguaia and Tocantins. .
             The coastal plain is located between the Brazilian Highlands and the Atlantic Ocean. It used to contain a tropical rainforest but now holds many of the largest cities of Brazil like Rio de Janero, Soa Paulo, and Santos. This area is a wonderful place to raise cattle, while the coastline has many great beaches that attract tourists. .
             The Guiana Highlands are located within the Amazon lowland. It is a small area containing hills, valleys, and plateaus. Many rivers run in the highlands and pour over the edges to create gorges and wonderful waterfalls. Many minerals are found in the highlands. Some of these minerals are deposits of iron ore, manganese, and bauxite. They were not accessible for many years because of lack of roads or transportation. The dense vegetation prevents people from tapping into these resources.
             Brazil has an abundance of minerals that are untapped, but its most precious resource the rainforest have been destroyed by humans. They have removed the trees and damaged the ecology system. Most of the rainforests have been replaced with large cities.

             People.
             The people of Brazil are a diverse group. The population is a mix of Indians, whites, and Africans. Over 80 percent of them practice the Roman Catholic faith. The national language is Portuguese. They celebrate many holidays and traditions in Brazil. These holidays are celebrated in different ways. Among the holidays they celebrate are Christmas and Festa de Iemanja.
             The majority of the population of Brazil is white. They are descendents of the Portuguese. They live in the southern part of the country and are businessmen or work on coffee plantation or vineyards.
             The aboriginal population has decreased over the years. There were over 1 and a half million Indians and over 50 tribes before the Portuguese settled in Brazil.
