Tanks came into play in 1917. The British were the first to incorporate their use into battle. They launched a massive assault in the Battle of Cambria on November 20th, 1917 using 324 tanks. (Glennon 128) The Tractor, which revolutionized farming rolled out in 1917 and completely changed the way farmers tended their crops (Glennon 130). This technology piled up on the other changes in England, especially the largest change the politics of the 20th century.
             Politics changed drastically during the early 20th century and contributed to the atmosphere of the time. The majority of the British were very scrutinizing and skeptical of their nation and it's policies (Howe x). They loved their homelands but still wanted to be heard (Sullivan 4). The people in the industrial jobs formed the British Labour party in 1906. This party was inducted into the government and allowed all men to participate or run for offices. (Glennon 48) Suffrage was an important feature of the democratic world and was reserved to property holding men in Britain. Due to many reformers and activists, parliament granted all men over the age of 21 the right to vote. They also allowed women over the age of 30 to vote in 1918. (Glennon 132) These changes were controversial and rapid but couldn't even compare to what came next.
             Religion and Science created the greatest controversies and change. Darwin's theory of Evolution created many controversial and radical ideas to form. One idea was the idea of modernists. These people came into the church and were later pushed out and even excommunicated in 1907. (Glennon 156) The Gideon's started placing bibles in hotels around the world and the Christian Science Monitor was created to help out in keeping the world somewhat religious. (Glennon 62) The theory of Continental Drift was made in 1912 and created some controversies (Glennon 95). Another denomination was also created in 1918, called the United Lutheran Church (Glennon 132).
