Adulthood


            The definition of an Adult is having arrived at maturity. Adults play a pivotal role in the lives of their children. The child will learn most of his or her traits and characteristics from their parents. Everything from attitude to manners are taught consciously or not by parents to their children. Not only do Adults have many responsibilities with their children but also have a considerable amount of accountability in their social life, for example, occupation, personal relationships and friendships. Some characteristics that adults need to succeed in everyday life are kindness, honesty, integrity, dedication, stamina, persistence, and flexibility. .
             Honesty is the quality of being truthful, fair and straightforwardness of conduct, and speech. Honesty is important because honesty is the essential basis of all our dealings, whether it is with friends, relatives, co-workers, or family. Once Honesty is lost it may be hard to gain again with the people who are important in life. Honesty is among the most important ethical principles. The ability to tell the truth is very important for all people. Honesty and integrity go hand-in-hand with each other. Integrity is moral soundness and freedom from corrupting influence or motive. A person of integrity does exactly what he says and says exactly what he means. There is no conflict between his thoughts and his words. His actions are consistent with the values he professes. Two traits of Adult that are critical to have are honesty and integrity.
             In addition, other traits needed for a well-rounded adult are dedication and persistence. Dedication is devoting or setting aside for any particular purpose. Dedication creates an attitude of never giving up or quitting. Dedication shows the reliability of a person and how well they will work on a project. Persistency, another characteristic, means a person refuses to give up or let go. Although, sometimes persistency may not be a good thing, but for the most part it is for the better.
