Federal Funds for a Stem Cell Research

He offered taxpayer dollars for research on embryos that had been collected before 1996. By making this policy, Gorge Bush had discouraged destroying embryos in the future. However, both interpretations of the law were just attempts to break the law (1,2).
             .
The second reason why human embryonic stem cell research should not receive federal funding is that there is no real successful or potential cure found to support destroying embryos. The National Bioethic Advisory Committee (NBAC) asserts that " the claim that there are alternatives to using stem cell derived from embryos is not, at present time, supported scientifically"(Tarne and Prentice 5). In addition, there is a number of medical professionals who assert that the embryonic stem cell treatment has no effect. An example of ineffective therapy is the story of Cash Burnaman, a 6-year-old boy with a genetic disorder that made him developmentally disabled. His parents decide to try an embryonic stem cell therapy. The treatment just brought a false hope and a huge financial burden to Cash's family (Fitzpatrick and Griffin 1). The Geron Company, which was funding the world's first trial of embryonic stem cell therapy, withdrawn funding from the project and left a stem cell field completely due to lack of positive results. According to Dr. Scarlett of the Geron Company, there was no evidence that the patients were helped at all (Pollack 1,2). In fact, the embryonic stem cell research is unsuccessful up to now. Therefore, people who want federal funding for this research manipulate data and exaggerate the potential of it (Tarne and Prentice 1). Andrew Pollack points out that private company know embryonic stem cell research is neither worth their time or money (1).
             .
The third reason why embryonic stem cell research should not have federal funding is the danger to patients receiving stem cell therapy. Steven R. Bauer, a scientist at the US Food and Drug Administration, explains that stem cells, derived from human embryo, are stimulated to mature; .
