             Both disorders are categorized as psychiatric disorders in the DSM-IV-TR Fourth Edition (Davidson, T., & Fundukian, L., 2011). The other major eating disorder is a research category under the DSM-IV-TR Fourth Edition is Binge Eating Disorder (BED) (Grilo C, 2012). All three disorders obsessively fear weight gain thus creating a self-reinforcing drive to control the weight. Impulsive food habits affect or reflect the individual's physical and mental stability. The disorders have relative causation and developmental factors that trigger obsessive unhealthy eating, exercising and even living habits. Except that BED usually affects are people who are obese (Davidson, T., & Fundukian, L., 2011).Which of course, is contradicting with the fear of weigh gain that's an underlying tone for anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. This leads to research the psychological interpretations of the distorted body image, motivation for weight loss and the need for control among individuals suffering from these major eating disorders. .
             Anorexia Nervosa.
             Anorexia nervosa can begin as early as the pre-adolescent years, as early as age seven. While going through puberty, girls and boys try to build their own character with accepting approval from their peers and loved ones. In western cultures majority of singers, models, actors, actresses, radio, movies and magazines portray a thin persona, implying that is what beauty and success is. Subsequently young girls want to look just as "gorgeous" and as "successful" as the famous people portrayed in the media. Boys want to look just as "buff" as the power dominating male figures portrayed throughout the media (Earp, J., Jhally, S., Katz J., 2002). Kids who are heavily involved in sports such as gymnastics, figure skating, ballet, and cross-country runners, to name a few, have to start watching their weight as early as age 7 because they are judged on their appearance.
