" Daisy seems to fall head over heels for Jay once she sees the wealth he has. The first time she sees his house she cries out, "That huge place over there!?(95)" Then she sees all of Gatsby's clothes and begins to sob, "It makes me sad because I've never seen such beautiful shirts before (95)." .
She seems to immediately forget about her husband the second Gatsby shows her his wealth. But we then find out that this is not the first time they have met. She had known him when he was younger but did not show interest in him because he had no money at the time. This shows that Daisy is a heartless woman who seems to attract very rich men by seeming so genuine with all of her sobbing and acting so innocent. Daisy's love for Jay (if you can truly call it "love") grows stronger as time presses on in the novel. Jay went over to the Buchanan's one afternoon, and Daisy ushered her husband out of the room because the phone was ringing; she then began to kiss Gatsby wildly while her husband was in the other room. Tom then comes back into the room clueless, and Daisy suggest that they should all go into town, but she rides with Gatsby instead of her husband. This is when Tom realizes that Daisy is cheating on him with Jay. On the way home, Daisy is driving by Myrtle Wilson's home, and Myrtle runs out into the street thinking it is her lover, Tom, (Daisy's philandering husband) coming back for her. But Daisy was engaged in conversation with Jay and was not paying attention to the road. She ran over Myrtle and killed her. .
Tom came through town a while later to see the accident scene with people standing all around. He then proceeded in closer to see Mr. Wilson in tears and to find out that Myrtle had been run over by a car and killed. He later finds out that the car was his car. But Daisy does not take the blame for this. She lets Jay take the blame and tell everyone that it was his entire fault and that he is the one who killed Myrtle.
