Children Sentenced to Life

G. He was 31 years old and he filled the void in Sarah's life. Sarah had been missing having a father. Sarah had been missing someone taking an interest in her and caring for her. Her mother was addicted to drugs so she had no guidance or comfort there. Her mom also used to abuse her. G.G. would take her and her friends roller skating and to the mall to buy them expensive gifts. This was the life for a kid that was 11 or 12 years old. But when Sarah turned 13 years old, G.G. raped her. He did this to break her in sot that he could prostitute her. He had her working 12 hour shifts and she had to give him all of the money she made. When Sarah was 16 years old, she killed G.G. Sarah was then sentenced to life in prison without parole plus 4 more years.

             There is no question that what Sarah did was wrong. It is not all right to take a person's life. Sarah agrees that she deserved to be punished for her crime. But does Sarah deserve to spend the rest of her life in prison for killing her pimp? This was a man who raped her. A man who prostituted her. A man who mentally stripped Sarah of her childhood and had her walking the streets and selling her body to make him money. A man who stole her innocence. .
             Sarah is not in her 30's. She has been in prison for half of her life. She has been tortured for years, by her mother and G.G. Her mother failed Sarah. G.G. failed Sarah. Now the criminal justice system is failing Sarah. What type of society do we live in where a child can be imprisoned for the rest of life cause of a bad decision that they made.              Kuntrell Jackson, his cousin and an older boy robbed a video store in Arkansas. They did not plan this event out.
