They had just arrived for a few moment when there was a knock at the door so Harry and Ron threw on the Invisibilty Cloak. It was the Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge. He had come to take Hagrid away to Azkaban since Hagrid's record was against him. Before leaving Hagrid told Harry and Ron to follow the spiders if they want to find out some stuff and remember to feed Fang. In addition, Dumbledore was suspended from his job by the twelve governor including Lucius Malfoy. So with Dumbledore gone, Harry and Ron are determined to solve the mystery. They took Hagrid's advice and followed the spiders into the Forbidden Forest where they met Aragog. They learned that Aragog was not the monster that people believed that killed the girl. That spiders feared this monster and do not speak of it. After getting back into the castle, they thought about what Aragog said about the girl who died in a bathroom and to their surprised the girl was Moaning Myrtle. Visiting Hermione in the hospital wing, they noticed that she had something in her hand. It was a piece of paper of the Basilisk, one of the many fearsome beasts and monsters. Spiders fear the basilisk and the crowing of the rooster is fatal to it. The basilisk kill people by it murderous stare. Why didn't anyone died? Because no one's had look at the basilisk directly in the eye, they only had since the reflection. The basilisk has been getting around the school by the plumbing. After learning all of this, Harry and Ron decide to go to the staff room but on the way, they found out that a student was taken down to the chamber itself and that student was Ginny Weasley. The teachers decide to let Lockhart rescue her since he "knows" where the chamber was. Overhearing this, Harry and Ron rushed to Lockhart office and they found him packing up. They learned that he had been taking credit for what other people did. Lockhart seeing that they know his secret decides to do a memory charm but he was outnumbered so he followed Harry and Ron to Moaning Myrtle bathroom.
