Overview on Surrogacy

The article "Donor Conception and Children's Rights", by Greene, C. (2011). This process is done through sperm donation, egg donation, embryo donation, surrogacy and adoption. There is an Anonymous sperm donation which is just one example (Greene, C. para, 1 2011). The author explain how every male donor should be able to have contact with their child, and that the identity of the donor should be given to the child once their older. But there is a debate with this when it comes to some parents. The research that was conducted was for the surrogate parents to listen to the opinions of donor to try and validate their feelings. The donors feel that this should be possible; because this will help them with their decisions with the concerns of their genetic heritage. The author states that this can only be decided by the parents of the child and not the donor. The study that was done on this purpose stated that there has not been a single child who was conceived through a third party that wanted to know about their donor father. In Canada there has been a parent who has gotten donor insemination and requested to have donors who are willing to be contacted in the future by their genetic offspring.
The article "Families created through surrogacy by Marks, A., & Jadva, V. (2011) explains there focus on the relationship with mother and child. In the article it states that there are an increasing number of children who are born through surrogacy and lack the genetic and gestational link with their mother. This research was conducted to examine if a child that was born from its biological mother and a child conceived through surrogacy. After examining the two there was no difference found with the two, "a child born through surrogacy is no different than a child born by its maternal mother" (Golombok, S., Readings, J., Blake, L., Casey, P., Marks, A., & Jadva, V. para, 3 2011). The methods that were used for the study consist of mother-child questionnaires.
