Elements of Human Nature

There are many views, theories and opinions on the topic of human nature. I particularly agree with the theory provided by Sigmund Freud which appears to be the most extreme theory of all. Although I agree with Freud it is my opinion that human beings are aggressive by nature but they become altruistic for one of two reasons either their parents teach them as children or they experience a great deal of pain at some point in life. Many people will disagree with my view on human nature but after reading this essay you will clearly understand my point of view even if you do not share my views.
Sigmund Freud once said that, "Men are not gentle creatures, who want to be loved, who at most can defend themselves if they are attacked; they on the contrary, creatures among whose instinctual endowments is to be reckoned a powerful share of aggressiveness. As a result, their neighbor is for them not only a potential helper or sexual object, but also someone who tempts them to satisfy their aggressiveness on him, to exploit his capacity for work without compensation, to use him sexually without his consent, to seize his possessions, to humiliate him, to cause him pain, to torture and kill him. Homo homini lupus [man is wolf to his fellow man]. " I take this to mean that human beings are not kind and are the very opposite of kind. I take his words to mean that human beings are aggressive, selfish and at any moment can unleash their aggressions on any man for any reason. I have witnessed this kind of behavior on many different occasions which has lead me to side with Freud.
Take a child for instance, they are just learning and experiencing life yet they instinctively know how to attack if they feel threatened, angry, hurt or mostly just because they can. My daughter Madyson for example has hit, kicked, punched and very aggressively attacked her cousin for no known reason at all. The room is calm and quiet when suddenly Madyson unleashes a barrage of hits, kicks and punches onto her cousin and then walks away calmly as if nothing has happened.
