Drill Sergeant Miller

I was sitting in the middle of a parade field on my green duffle bag surrounded by many other potential soldiers in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. We heard the sounds of many busses stopping behind us, I heard the rustling of the grass as three shadowy figures approached the area where I was sitting. One of the figures was short and stocky, the second was a lot taller than the first, but according to his shadow he was very skinny, and the last figure was about average height, but very muscular. The voice that bellowed like a foghorn in my ear telling us to "Get the hell up now!" was like a bolt of lightning to my spine. When I heard it I rushed up and turned around to see his face. His piercing stare looking at me like he was going to cut me in half with his stare. His snarl was terrifying. His left lip was coming up and all you could see was a bright gold tooth glistening from his incisors. I'm thinking to myself, "I'm a twenty-one year old man, and I'm scared as hades, and I don't know why.".
As I stood in the position of attention looking at this intimidating figure, I looked at this uniform with my peripheral vision and noticed the name on his ACU top, it read "Miller". My heart dropped to my stomach because he reminded me so much of the fictional character that I once saw in a movie called, Major Payne. When we were transported to our new barracks, I thought that my life was over. Drill Sergeant Miller was going to make my life a living nightmare and try to kick me out of the military. During the fifth week of Basic Combat Training, we were covering BRM, which is short hand for Basic Rifle Marksmanship. I noticed that I had a problem with my vision. Which partially impaired me from qualifying for the top honor which was "Expert", but to pass the course I needed the rank of "Marksman". I knew that I would only have three attempts at getting a score of at least 23 out of 40 to pass the block of instruction.
