             Current Situation.
             Affirmative Action in the workplace is a controversial topic. Affirmative action has been implemented to prevent qualified individuals from being discriminated against. Many people feel strongly either for or against affirmative action in the workplace. There is research to support both the pros and cons of affirmative action. This topic is more relevant now more than ever due to the increasing change in the nation's demographic. America is no longer just black, white or brown, but is now made up of an increasing interracial population. This has re-evaluating the need and integrity for Affirmative Action in the workplace.
             America is divided on the need for affirmative action. Former President Ronald Regan believed that affirmative action was just a form of reverse discrimination. Many Americans share this same sentiment. Others feel that affirmative action is needed because racism still exists and affirmative action is the only remedy to ensure equal opportunity. They believe diversity will not happen on its own and that affirmative action must be mandated. Then there are those Americans who feel that affirmative action lowers the standards of accountability. And others would argue that affirmative action creates diversity and helps those who are a disadvantage. .
             There are many arguments for and against affirmative action. And while there have been a lot of research and studies done on the topic, the results are mixed. It seems that there are just as many studies that suggest that affirmative action is a good thing as there are studies that show it should no longer be implemented. There is not any one definitive study to prove the advantages or disadvantages of affirmative action. Many Americans today continue to debate this topic. Arguments can be made for both sides. We will explore some of the pros and cons of affirmative action so that as a reader you can make your own conclusions as to the validity of affirmative action in the workplace today.
