             For many years, an increase in Dementia cases had been reported. This could be due to the baby boomers aging over 65 years old. A certain form of dementia, Alzheimer's disease, has been igniting concern in the media and health literature, regarding the short and long-term effects on individuals. Approximately 50-80 percent of cases of dementia are Alzheimer's disease. Furthermore, there have not been many associations between Coconut Oil and Dementia, Alzheimer's, specifically. Due to the increase in cases of dementia, a possible treatment, which increases the mental capacity, and ultimately, the quality of life, needs to be found. This study is designed to examine the association between the ketones found in coconut oil and an increase in the mental capacity of patients with Alzheimer's. .
             Recently, because of the aging baby boomers, there has been a huge increase in the number of cases of dementia, specifically Alzheimer's Disease. Because Alzheimer's disease can be seen to decrease the quality of life of the persons affected or their caregivers, there is a constant need for an improvement in the area of treatment for those individuals affected by the disease, to ultimately improve their quality of life. The aim of this study is to determine whether or not the Medium Chain Triglycerides found in Coconut oil will prove the mental capacity Alzheimer's patients. .
             Background.
             Alzheimer's is a disease of the brain. It is type of dementia that causes problems with memory, thinking and behaviour. It is the most common form of dementia, accounting for 64 percent of all dementia in Canada. It is a fatal, progressive and degenerative disease that destroys brain cells. Symptoms of Alzheimer's usually develop slowly and progress over time, eventually becoming severe enough to interfere with one's ability to perform daily activities and tasks. Alzheimer's disease accounts for 50-80 percent of dementia cases.
