Spartacus, a saddened man from the country of Xanadu, was nice enough to sit down with me and discuss his concerns about his lackluster government. Like many others in his country, he has been unemployed for over a year and is frustrated with the lack of government intervention to combat the five year long recession Xanadu has been facing. You could tell by the look in his eyes that he was not anticipating any changes soon and was on the verge of fleeing his country. Within ten minutes of sitting with Spartacus, I received a call on my cell phone with a Washington, DC area code. While I was hesitant at first, I decided to swipe my finger across the screen to find out who it was and what they needed.
"This is , can I help you?" I answered.
"Hi there Mr. , this is President Obama. I have been informed that you have been assigned a mission to cover the story, 'A Local's Take on the Xanadu Government.' I request that you send my regards to the citizens of Xanadu.".
With a surprised smile on my face I answered, "Yes sir. I will be sure to let the people here know that you are thinking about them and their wellbeing.".
"One more thing.I want you to guide one of the locals on how they should go about making changes in an effort to boost the economy in Xanadu. Take what you have learned from your recent macroeconomics course at Avila University and teach what you believe should be done from a government's perspective. I have faith in that you will teach the same concepts and ideas. Upon your acceptance with my proposal, I will call the United States Ambassador in Xanadu and request a conference call with the Xanaduian president. I will inform him that one of his own citizens will be coming to him in the near future with guidance on how to improve the economic conditions in his country. I will advise the president to listen to what his citizen has to offer and accept his proposal to help out the government with making future decisions.
