African Americans and the American Revolution

            During the era (1760-87), a political disturbance in the society of many colonies broke a British empire to form a nation that is independent now in the United States of America. As we look back on this issue we can see the results very clear that there were series of transformation that took place socially and politically. We recognize this element to be better known as the American Revolution. During the first 5 years of this era, there was rejection of authority of the Parliament to tax without representation. This issue began to escalate in the effect of the Boston Tea party which took place the next eight years in 1773. With the affects in place and escalation going on the British decided to impose Laws to serve the patriots in Massachusetts in 1774. Patriots didn't seem to co-op with the new law system and decided to rebel against British authority which then led to the American revolutionary war in 1775. .
             In the mist of this 17 year era many periods of religious revival began to sum up the American religious history. Significant cultural movements were made, and religious enthusiasm increased. These significant movements characterized widespread revivals led by protestant members to be known to us as the "Great Awakening" and "The Enlightment." In the time of possibility and belief of hope a creation of an egalitarian (equal opportunity society) up warded a social and economic mobility to end slavery.
             The revolutionary era debated over morals and corrections of slavery for blacks and many other nationalities. The most remembered points of the era was to create an equal opportunity or rights, race concepts, and men of color. At this time American revolutionaries brought their opposition of slavery into the war. The African American participation happened way before the war era even started. Approximately 5,000 African Americans served in the continental army and navy with nearly half the revolutionary soldiers from Massachusetts were men of color.
