Ammon's Diary - The Diary of an Ancient Egyptian Farmer

Dear Diary, my name is Ammon which means the hidden one, I am a farmer and I am 30 years old. I am married to Nefertiti which means the beautiful woman has come. I live in a nice mud brick house with high windows for privacy. I have a son whose name is Ptah which means the opener, he is aspiring to be a scribe and I told him if he works hard enough he will achieve his goals. Luckily for him he has the help of my brother. I got this new diary from my brother Bes who is a scribe, he even wrote my name on it in hieroglyphics. He said I should make entries of my day every day life and if I fill it in every day for a week he would teach me more writing and drawing techniques and possibly even how to translate hieroglyphics. I am really looking forward to doing entries every day so I can learn all the new techniques he promised to teach me.
             Day 1.
This morning as I got up the sun was shining through the high windows of my mud brick house and I got out of bed and shaved and washed myself before getting dressed. For me I just about always wear the same thing which is a coarse linen kilt and a pair of reed sandals.
I have my normal breakfast which is bread and fruit with a cup of water as I did not have any special ceremonies or events I had to attend today (it was a tradition in my family that on special days with events or ceremonies we had a special meal). I am looking forward to the next special day.
I now go to work in the fields which are only a few minutes away from my house.
I now come home to my family at around midday after working for hours before lunch. For lunch I normally have Bread, Vegetables, Dried fish and beer. I make sure I get rehydrated before I go back to work in the fields.
I go back to work in the fields for the rest of the day. We are harvesting our crops at the moment and we are right near the end of the season. I work for a few more hours until the sunsets; today there was not much of a sunset.
