Respect in the Classroom

How might the value of respect be similar between team members in sports and in the classroom? .
The value of respect can be similar between team members in sports as it is in the classroom. Those who show leadership values and utilize them to help other classmates (or teammates) are usually well respected. Those who goof off and offer little participation are usually shown much less respect. You'll even notice that there are well-paid professional players who do nothing but bad-mouth other individuals. They might get paid well, but they are shown absolutely zero respect from those who see them.
             2. How might it be different?.
The value of respect maybe different in reference to team sports and in the classroom as far as the goals are concerned and also in regard to individual merit. Players play sports to win, no one likes losing so the ultimate goal is to win. As a student you are trying to learn as much knowledge about a certain subject in order to become more knowledgeable and display what you have learned throughout the course, two totally different goals. Respect is warranted on all levels, but in terms of playing sports you have sportsmanship that is displayed mostly by all players on both opposing teams. In the classroom, respect is given but mainly to the Professor. Yes, each student respects each other but you may not talk to one student the entire course. That does not mean that you do not respect that student, you just may not have had an opportunity to cross paths or have to work with that student. That can be common with online learning. .
             3. How can embracing the value of respect enhance a classroom environment? .
Embracing the value of respect in a classroom environment, will enhance the learning environment and make it comfortable for others to learn. Enhancing respect will also bind the students and the teachers together for a stronger relationship and understanding of one another.
