Research Methodology.
There are two kinds of research methodology methods; quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative research is carried out using empirical data through surveys, questionnaires and statistics. While, qualitative method is used to explore how and why of a concept in depth, using tools that allow detailed research. The method used in this paper is purely qualitative in nature.
Purpose of Research.
Rebellion is a predominant form of behavior, which has been the key to challenge the tradition ever since the age of enlightenment. Societal norms and customs have dictated free will of an individual in every community around the world and thus, the consequences of these imposed traditions are vast and intense. Rebellion is an act to struggle for freedom and determination but unfortunately is dealt with discrimination and brutality. Thus, this research in light to Arundhati Roy's, "The God of Small Things," discusses revolt as an acceptable and justified act if raised against injustice and any means of discriminatory treatment. It is therefore, essential to present this concept from a different perspective to reduce the negativity and reluctance it is faced with. Hence, the research questions are based on viewing rebellion from a different point of opinion. It is however, important to consider that this paper by no means criticizes the overall concept of community based societies, and cultural values, but rather intends on evaluating the act of rebellion in face of discrimination due to customs and class values only.
