Catastrophic, traumatic, life shattering, tragic; these are all words that describe the Israel-Gaza conflict. This paper will include a brief history and explanation of the conflict, and give examples of impacts on everyday life from different perspectives, then, I will tell how I believe Israel and Palestine can achieve peace. The conflict has been around for centuries. Generations of people have come and gone living through the horrors of the wars and violence between Palestinian and Israeli suffering. will there ever be peace?.
Let's start in 1918 at World War 1 when Britain won the land over the Palestine from the Ottoman Empire. The area becomes known as British-mandate Palestine (a mandate is an authorization to govern over conquered territory). Britain governs over the Jews and Arabs living in that territory for thirty years (1918-1948). In 1921 Britain gave the area of British-mandate Palestine east of the Jordan River to Emir Abdullah who then ruled as king over the Hashemite Kingdom of TransJordan. At the border of Jaffa-Tel Aviv, the first ever major intercommunal violence (which is a form of violence that is over ethnic or communal lines) between Palestinians and Arabs commenced leaving many jews and Arabs dead. Jews described the conflict as "pogrom" or "riots" while palestinians used the term "revolt". The second major intercommunal violence took place in Jerusalem, spreading throughout the country, especially in Hebron where sixty seven jews were killed because of the shipment of illegal arms for the Jewish defense force.
November 1947, the united nations recommended the partition of British mandate Palestine into two separate states, one for Jews and one for Arab states rejected and, fighting breaks out soon after, there was so much fighting between these two groups someone had to split them up. In may 1948, Zionist (an organization to establish to establish a home for the Jewish people in Palestine).
