For example, most Swiffer commercials have young middle-aged women pushing around a Swiffer mop dancing to a cheesy theme song. Along with a Gatorade commercial having a male running and stopping for a drink of Gatorade. What happened to equal images in the media? Commercials and paper advertisements are what is still keeping the gender roles and responsibilities stereotype alive. .
             There are more women in college now than there are men; women are getting into politics, business, the military, and every other area of what use to be the man's world. Also the media portrays this image that men have to be this big muscular figure that repeats the famous phrase "I pick things up, and pick them down." This is not what men and women are even close to being like realistically. So why is the media still portraying women and men in these roles that have become outdated? People think the phrase "sex sells" says its all, but does it? .
             Weichselbaum and Buttriss (2001) say that healthy eating and being physical are particularly important for children. Most advertisements about young kids eating healthy and physical fitness is in high demand because Michelle Obama has made many health regulations in the school systems. The healthy aspect of the advertisement shows exercising is important by implying that boys need to be strong and muscular. While exercise advertisements show skinny girls in skimpy clothing to tell the young girls in our society that they need to be skinny and fat is bad. Advertising these messages teach kids to stereotype at even a young age. .
             There are already many health issues in teens at a young age with eating disorders not only in girls but also for boys. The teenage children see peers their age or young beautiful women or men on commercials who look a certain way and the younger teen girl or boy believe they need to look just like their peers in the commercials.
