According to raw foodists, consuming only raw foods provide many advantages. You can achieve weight loss because raw foods are low in calories. They believe raw foods can help prevent or fight chronic diseases. There are many nutritional perks: high in fiber, minerals, and vitamins. According to the Vanderbilt University Psychology Department, raw foodists believe cooking destroys or changes enzymes in food. They say enzymes are the "life force of food." Raw foodists believe cooked foods clog our digestive systems because of the fats, carbohydrates, and proteins consumed. .
             According to Hippocrates Health Institute, humans' original diet was uncooked food that was very vegetarian. We began to cook food after we discovered fire. In the 18th century, monks and nuns in Europe consumed raw foods to gain stronger physical and spiritual health. These benefits become known to Europe who then turned to raw foods. According to earth turns, raw foods has a rich history that dates back to biblical times. Raw juices were mentioned in the Dead Sea Scrolls written by the Essenes and Jews who were known for their vegetarian diets. .
             One way raw foodists conventiantely consume raw food is through juicing. From my prior knowledge, Juicing is the process of removing juice from fruits and vegetables. To juice, the produce is washed before you fit it in the chamber of the juicer and it goes through a pureeing process. The produce doesn't have to be peeled as long as its washed. The reason to juice is to get raw nutrients from the fruits and vegetables. .
             There is a huge difference between cooked food and raw food. According to World Wide Health, "when heat is applied to food we start to destroy the enzymes, vitamins, and minerals it contains." By consuming raw foods, our bodies get a great source of those nutrients. Juicing raw foods cleanses the body of toxins and "assists in its processes of repair and regeneration.
