The Near-Future - Amazon Drones

This could be a potentially massive problem that amazon will have to work through. Not only could the birds destroy the drones, the drones could potentially harm the wildlife that is around us everyday. An even bigger problem than endangering the wildlife would be endangering the human population. Drones are built to be sturdy and hard while the human flesh is made of tissue and can be easily pierced. The drones are flying fast enough to get to your house within thirty minutes. The farthest they could go is 10 miles away. Drones could potentially going twenty miles per hour and riding low enough to land on your drive-way. Technology can make mistakes, and that mistake might be crashing into a human causing death which would be a serious problem and could possibly cause Amazon to get sued for all that they are worth. Also, there could be dozens of "octocopters " flying around the same apartment complex or neighborhood that could crash into each other scattering debris or possible falling on a human. Another massive problem that the drone delivery could have is that of theft and hacking. There are criminals out there that would come up with a way to steal the drones and packages before the rightful owner ever gets it. The University of Texas did an experiment to try and hack an $80,000 drone. They bought a basic GPS from a local store and tried to through the drone off of its course, and did so easily. They hacked the system and were able to take complete control over the drone (Sperry, [1]). If someone could hack a drone they could take complete control over it, put a bomb in it, and fly it into Capitol Hill. That may seem ridiculous and ludicrous but it is definitely a possibility with the world that we live in today. Drones would also give up a lot of our privacy. They would have cameras mounted to them, letting them see our homes and people that may be around it. But, one may not ever have to worry about the possible dangers of the drones if the Federal Aviation Administration does not change the laws regarding drones.
