The Claim to Beauty

Beauty is something that many people around the world struggle with on a daily basis. In our society, people are told if they are beautiful or not. Society has no place to label a person's beauty. A person may or may not be completely confident in her because of what society has to say about a person. Humans place their worth on each other, rather than someone knowing his or her own true worth. Beauty is defined as a combination of qualities such as shape, color, or form that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially the sight. Humans have twisted that definition to be how someone feels about self-worth or if he or she outwardly appealing to the human eye. Because humans have done so, many people have taken rash decisions by harming themselves because they do not feel adequate: all the way to the point of committing suicide. Beauty has lost its true meaning and has become defined by society's standards.
Inner beauty is seen as being a good person regardless of your looks, or being kindhearted and having a great personality. The form of inner beauty is often times overlooked, or not as important as it used to be. What we think we are or who we think we are on the inside also defines what inner beauty is. An example of someone with great inner beauty in today's society is Shakira. Shakira is a singer-songwriter and is famous not only for her music, but also for her acts of charity. Shakira founded a charity by the name of Pies Descalzos Foundation. She also is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and is one of their global representatives. Shakira is an example of someone who truly has a good heart and good intentions of bettering the world, even if she has a life of fame and fortune. Inner beauty at its finest can define someone as honest and true. People with great inner beauty can often be held responsible for great matters and can be placed in roles of leadership.
The most recognized form of beauty is outer beauty, for the reason that the outside is the first thing that is seen by another person.
