Comparing Four Creation Stories

Over time there have been multiple different accounts that have risen in an attempt to describe how the earth came into existence. Some prove to be myths and ultimately false. One account provides evidence to be true while the others are labeled as counterfeit. The reasons for the uprising of these different stories and myths vary. Nonetheless, Enuma Elish, the Mexican Creation Myths, Metamorphoses, and On the Dignity of Man all attempt to explain the creation of the earth, yet, the biblical account in the book of Genesis is the only one that holds true.
The creation story of Enuma Elish, which simply means 'When on High' is a myth that does not begin with one god in control, but rather there are multiple gods trying to order the universe. This does nothing to help in the attempt to create, but instead causes holdup and much tension amongst the gods. The story begins in a formless state with two gods: Apsu and Tiamat. These gods mix and form more gods. The biblical account of Genesis has only one God in charge of the universe, creating everything and controlling everything while bringing it into existence. One of the chief problems that the gods possessed is the fact that they had no plan for the world and no structure that they originally had in mind while creating it. The God of the Bible had a plan and a purpose for His creation from the very first day. In Enuma Elish, the gods begin to take notice of the chaos and calamity within the world and eventually designate a god named Marduk to be the primary god or ruler. Marduk does rule, but it in no way is complete, authoritative control as in contrast to the absolute sovereignty of the God of the Bible. Enuma Elish has a plethora of questions that are left unanswered based off of this account. In no way do the gods determine what is right and what is wrong. They also do not give any sort of record as to who actually created the things of the world such as time and space.
