Rules and Pride in Pride and Prejudice


            An ego and pride of a person, as well as the rules and regulation of the society about class-conscious has consequence on an individual's relationship and love. Pride and prejudice by Jane Austen illustrates how Class-Conscious has effect on relationship and love. Darcy's could not accept Elizabeth's love because of his pride and, Elizabeth's prejudice against him does not allow her to love him. While a middle class girl Elizabeth is prejudice, Darcy, the protagonist, has lot of pride. Elizabeth fixed an appearance of Darcy as full of pride and ego she was unwilling to talk to Darcy and understand him. The purpose of the novel is to show how class-conscious in 1800 had impact on love and relationship her prejudice and his pride was the first obstacle in their relationship, to counteract the weeding Lady Catherine vicissitudes some rules of the society, and Austen is using symbolism and characterization to help the reader understand how in 1800s two imbalanced people cannot be together. .
             The characters expression and actions interconnects with author's purpose. She is very clever and she is original. Elizabeth has strength to accept the truth which allows her to magistrate and detect the person character and also the situation and setting with a considerable understanding. When Elizabeth returns from Meryton ball she is "in silence, (. Bingley's sisters) were in fact very fine ladies, not deficient in good humour when they were pleased, nor in the power of being agreeable where they chose it; but proud and conceited" (17). Most of the girls are not able decide how class-conscious society has effects on them. In the same way Elizabeth prejudice leads agonists Darcy. Darcy derelict an officer life and the same officer told Elizabeth about Darcy running her life and because of that she had a strong dislike against Darcy. She felt that her dislike against Darcy was increasing and she also thought that "he deserves to be publicly disgraced" (78) because he tumble-down many people's lives.
