Death of an Angel - Leelah Alcorn

There's no way out. I'm sad enough already, I don't need my life to get any worse. People say "it gets better" but that isn't true in my case. It gets worse. Each day I get worse. That's the gist of it, that's why I feel like killing myself. Sorry if that's not a good enough reason for you, it's good enough for me. My death needs to mean something. My death needs to be counted in the number of transgender people who commit suicide this year. I want someone to look at that number and say "that's f****d up" and fix it. Fix society. Please.".
Later in the morning, police told news sources that "she had been walking southbound on Interstate 71 near Union Township when she was struck by a semi-trailer just before 2:30 am near the South Lebanon exit. She died at the scene." Leelah purposely put herself in front of the vehicles on the road, hoping to get hit. After forty-eight hours of her passing, her Tumblr suicide note had been seen 82,000 times, and by the morning of December 31, it was reposted 200,000 times. Enraged by the exposure of their "son", her parents asked them to take the blog down, and was soon inaccessible to the public. .
A funeral was held for Leelah Alcorn privately because of the threats her parents had gotten because of them constantly mis-gendering her as their son. They wrote a Facebook post about the death of Leelah saying, "My sweet 16-year-old son, Joshua Ryan Alcorn, went home to Heaven this morning. He was out for an early morning walk and was hit by a truck. Thank you for the messages and kindness and concern you have sent our way. Please continue to keep us in your prayers." Some of the people sympathizing for Leelah criticized her mother for her most and how she misgenders her. Alcorn's mother responded to the criticism in an interview saying that "we loved him unconditionally. We loved him no matter what. I loved my son.
