Critique of Modernism and Capitalism

It was such an effective business model that soon many other countries would join the craze; a craze that still persists until this day. .
             The beginnings of capitalism directly caused changes in modernity. Those changes were dramatic and too many others should have been avoided. There is no doubt that when it comes to making money and wealth capitalism is unlike no other. The ability to have a free market full of competition ensures that items are sold at fair prices. Anybody with capital can attempt to compete and make a profit. Nevertheless, businesses can easily buy off any competitors. This also adds pressure to sell things at lower prices than your competitors. When concepts spreads it causes issues; issues which Karl Marx was able to perceive with ease. .
             Capitalism was blooming in the 19th century after the industrial revolution. People were attempting to make life better through technology and making commodities to spark new markets. In doing so entrepreneurs needed factories in order to make goods and flood the markets. At the time factories were something relatively new and people were amazed. What went on in factories was an embarrassment to human rights. Conditions in these places were astonishingly horrible. Employees felt an incredible amount of suffering equivalent to the days of slavery. Children, women, and men were given long hours and set to do difficult tasks. Marx was never a fan of capitalism although admitted that it was necessary to make income. He did not agree with working conditions in factories. The suicide rate at the time was increasing and people looked depressed. After years of research Marx concluded that capitalism did not bring about happiness and that it is not as great as everyone at time thought. First of all unlike any other places factories exploited their workers. They made them do jobs unbefitting of humans beings. This caused alienation which meant workers just viewed themselves no more different than a screwdriver.
