Overview of Biodiversity


            
             According to scientists, the earth is unlike any other place in the entire universe. Biodiversity is fairly a new word to our language but it is becoming more and more commonly used and understood. It simply signifies the diversity of life on earth in all its shapes and sizes from the smallest insect to the largest mammal tree. It not only not only includes species that are rare , threatened or endangered instead every living thing even organisms such as fungi, microbes and etc There is a massive variety of life everywhere, not just in our country sides or gardens but also in towns and etc. Biodiversity is the measure of life and also the indicator for the overall health of our planet.
             What is Biodiversity?.
             "Biodiversity" the word is constricted from the term 'biological diversity'. The meaning of biological definition mainly is that 'the variability of different living organisms such as plants and animals or insects in a specific area for food, living and shelter'. Therefore, we combine the word 'bio' which is the study of different types of species present in a specific area. It is much developed at the tropical areas and prohibited in the Polar Regions. They are a part of ecological complexes which includes diversity between species, diversity within species and of ecosystem. This term biodiversity deals with the variation in plants and animals as the diversity means number of species and their presence at specific areas to build an ecosystem. Biodiversity is very essential for the working of the natural and human-engineered ecosystems that nature provides free of charge to the society. The life form play a very vital role in the cycle of the major elements (nitrogen, oxygen and so on) , diversity is particularly important in these cycles that involves many species. Biologists because of the huge increase in biodiversity confirmed the year 2010 as the year of international biodiversity.
