4 Whereas German Fascism ideology could not look back at a time of great domination to aspire towards and instead mythicized over creating a new perfect Aryan race by the usage of eugenics and nationalism. Hitler would go on to murder millions of lesser able bodied people and any so called 'racially impure' in order to try and create this new perfect race of strong and 'racially pure' Germans. Overall, therefore, although Hitler's and Mussolini's ideological means were different, sport played a huge part in being able to succeed in their separate ideologies because sport allowed both of these Fascist regimes to exploit the people into a sense of nationalism and pride and to a greater extent with Hitler to try and create a more strong and 'pureri race. Sport also allowed Hitler and Mussolini to showcase the strength and unity of their nations in front of a world audience, especially for Germany at the Berlin Olympic and Italy for the 1934 and 38 football world cups. This new sense of national pride from sport also allowed Hitler and Mussolini to distract the public from their true political means or in Mussolini's case especially, Italy's political and economic frailties. Hitler however, would use sport to an exceptionally devastating effect which would allow him to hide his true intentions of war and to hide the attempts to systematically kill all of the so called weak and 'racially impure' in order to create this new Aryan race. This essay will help show the similarities and differences of the ideological importance of sport under Mussolini and Hitler and there will be many examples to show this and there will also be examples of how the new consensus helps to answer this question and to show that for Hitler and Mussolini, to exploit sport was the exploit the masses. .
In order to answer this question one must take a greater look at Hitler's and Mussolini's true Fascist ideologies before showing the importance sport played to help these ideologies take surface and be fully exploited.
