Frank in American Gangster


            In the movie "American Gangster," the character of Frank Lucas abuses power, he does this through many different characters in the movie he encounters, and different institutions. "Blue magic" is a type of heroin, and Frank is the one the supplies it, he buys the drug directly from Thailand. This leads to another problem because it is smuggled by U.S serviceman returning from the Vietnam War. This helps Lucas in making a fortunate he gets the drug at a cheaper price, but sells it to the people in New York at a higher price, which makes him make a lot of money. He buys a lot of night clubs, he controls the casino and prostitution ring as well. Lucas is the biggest gang leader, and drug dealer in Harlem. Lucas abuses his power, in the wrong way, he uses different institutions such as Thailand to buy heroin and drugs and a cheaper cost, this way he can make money out of it in New York, and this leads to him buying estates, however, this is all because he abused the power he had. .
             Lucas abuses the people by selling them drugs that are more than they should be, but he also abuses the police by finding a way to stay away from them. Lucas relies on crime forces to make his business, this is wrong because at the end of the day all of his fortunate was not made in the right way and if the police catch, all of his estate and fortunate will be taken away so quickly. The drug business also abuses power, because it leads to destruction and to violence. Lucas cousin dies, and many of the other people fight each other. Lucas also abuses power because he smuggled blue heroin in the coffins of dead people. This is offensive and not the right path. Lucas has a lot of power, but he clearly does not how to use his power. He is letting all the power consume him, and that is not how it is supposed to be. When one has power they should use it in the right way but Lucas is letting it get to his head.
