            College students have taken part in internships for centuries. Internships are known, as on the job training and are true methods of mentoring and teaching students new skill methods for careers. For many years the number of college student participating in internship experiences continues to rise as a lot of schools offer structured programs and a lot of employers expect graduates to have real world experiences. The competition for good jobs is steadily rising. In today's society you no longer have to simply be more qualified than the person next to you, but you have to be more qualified than countless individuals with an education around the world. We can all agree that attending a college or university is an important step, but you can greatly enhance your classroom learning by gaining real world experience through college student internships. .
             Prior to gaining great experience to complete your classroom learning, college internships allow you to really expand your portfolio or resume and make valuable industrial contacts that can be essential to landing the ideal job upon graduation. Remember the old phrase, "It's not what you know, but who you know." Well throw that completely out the way. In today's competitive job market, it's what you know and whom you know that often makes the difference. However, college internships are a great way to address both of those issues at once. For instance, the importance of internships to college students demands serious consideration. Internships are a great idea for college students. However, most individual's say internships aren't worth it; you will just end up wasting your time and making coffee runs. The whole point of an internship is to beef up your portfolio and have accomplishments to add to your resume. Furthermore, internships that ignore feedback from their interns are not conducive to a productive learning setting. If you're known as just "the intern" in the office, you just haven't been given the respect you deserve as an intern of that organization.
