Moving Forward with Nuclear Energy

The world's natural resources are being consumed at an alarming rate. As these resources diminish, people will be looking for alternative sources which generate electricity. Advances in nuclear energy have given us a practical alternative which has several advantages. However, many people are concerned about the potential risks associated with energy. Is it worth the risks? Nuclear energy involves low carbon dioxide emissions and is relatively "clean". By not producing greenhouse gases, it does not contribute to global warming. It also does not contribute to other forms of pollution like acid rain and produces a smaller amount of waste compared to fossil fuels. .
Nuclear energy also has the capacity to produce large amounts of energy at relatively low cost. Nuclear raw materials produce more energy per kilogram of fuel than other sources like shale gas or petroleum. It can definitely also produce a lot more energy more quickly and reliably than other green sources like wind energy. The Earth has high reserves of uranium compared to fossil fuels which may run out sooner. One of the biggest issues, however, with nuclear power is the management of radioactive waste. The leftover product from the process of creating energy from nuclear sources is highly radioactive and needs to be stored for many years after use. They are often kept deep underground, but no one wants this waste land to be near their houses as they may have health effects on the local population. This is a huge issue and a lot of money is going into researching safer ways of keeping this waste. .
There is also the possibility of accidents at nuclear plants releasing radioactive materials and causing a lot of damage to the environment and people's health. An explosion of a reactor at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine led to a lot of problems already and this can happen again. There is also the potential problem of nuclear weapons.
