Overview of Zen Studies

Have you ever thought about your life and what you should do to live a good life? We have to face various problems every day and some of them are the ones that we cannot avoid. Life is filled with obstacles, and it makes us feel stressful when studying or working, but we have to stick to it and do our best to live a wonderful life. However, when we are encouraging ourselves to stick to it, what should we do when we feel stressful or nervous? We should find a way to get those complicated problems away from our mind for a short time in order to relax ourselves a little bit. In the book "Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind", Shunryu Suzuki says, "Zen mind is one of those enigmatic phrases used by Zen teachers to make you notice yourself, to go beyond the words and wonder what your own mind and being are". Zen practice is a way to relax ourselves and keep us a pure mind to think and do things better, and to find our own nature. Therefore, it is be of benefits to learn how to get into Zen practice so that we can learn more about our own nature and live better. In my research paper, my topic of to get into Zen and practice Zen more deeply is significant and requires further investigation.
Before you get into Zen practice, do you know what Zen means? Zen is a way to let us understand ourselves, to find out our own nature, and to always have a pure beginner's mind. In the book "Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind", Suzuki states, "There is no need to have a deep understanding of Zen. Even though you read much Zen literature, you must read each sentence with a fresh mind. You should not say, 'I know what Zen is,' or 'I have attained enlightenment.' This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner"(Suzuki 2). There is no exact meaning for Zen and we don't have to figure out the literally meaning of Zen. We need to have a fresh mind every time when we are about to do something and try to always be like a beginner so that we can understand ourselves more clearly and find out our nature.
