Dito Character Analysis - Recognizing Your Saints

This film is about a boy growing up in Astoria, N. As his friends end up dead, on drugs or in prison, he believes that it is was his fate to make it out. Young Dito was played by actor Shia Labeouf. He was trying to escape. It seemed to me that he was the target of bullying. He got beat up by the reaper multiple times. His three friends were screw-ups. It was ridiculous. I won't blame them, none of them had correct guidance the way Dito did. They drank, smoked and even threw knifes and their supposed girlfriends. His only positive influence was his girlfriend Laurie and his new friend mike that he met on the bus. It seem like he was turning his life around because he was doing bad stuff with his friends but didn't have the courage to tell them no. Even though Antonio was Dito's best friend I felt like he was scared of him. Mike helped Dito get a job and they were going to start a band. Young Dito had dreams of taking the thirty-nine dollar bus to California and get away. Dito seem like the odd one out of his friends. He wasn't a killer, drug abuser, or alcoholic. After Guiseppe's death and Mike's murder there was no need for Dito to be there because Antonio was in jail for murdering the reaper because the reaper assaulted Dito. So he headed to California. .
Transforming into an adult who was played by Robert Downey Jr., Dito had a choice to go back to his home town of Astoria. His mother called him to let him know that his father was ill. I don't think that's why he ended up going. Nerf called him and what he said moved him and that's why he came. Even though he left, Dito has been living with regret because his father hates him. He doesn't regret leaving, however he does regret waiting so long to confront his father. Everyone is telling him he killed his father once he left because he father didn't want him to leave. He had seizure after seizures waiting on Dito to come home, but Dito never came.
