Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close

            9/11 which has been considered as the most horrific and tragic incident in American History which led many Americans to depression due to mass murdering of civilians. The Novel "Extremely loud and extremely close" written by Jonathan Safran Foer is a fictional story that revolves around a 9 year old kid Oskar whose father left his world which led him to face depression and challenges in his life. Similar like 09/11 but more severe was the Dresden Bombing which affected a lot of lives and one was Oskar's Grandfather who lost his girlfriend. Oskar's grandfather went through the same depression because he lost his true love in Dresden bombing. The effects of depression and hate in an individual's life can destroy psychological and mental wellbeing if not dealt with. The depression and hate in Oskar's grandfather affected his whole life, in a same manner it affected his Oskar's attitude and spending time in memories of his father.
             The hatred and depression of Oskar's grandfather lead to ruin his life. Oskar's grandfather name was Thomas Sr. and He never met Oskar until his journey to find the lock to the key. Oskar's grandfather met a girl named Anna who he started to like which turned to love. She also loved Thomas Sr. and they made love which made Anna pregnant. Thomas Sr. accepted the situation and wanted to spend his whole life with Anna but this dream never came true. As it happened, the Dresden bombing killed Anna and left him heartbroken. The author wanted the readers to realize that how it feels like when you lose a loved one. He became very depressed and spent most of his time thinking about her. He moved to USA where he met Anna's sister and Anna's sister fall in love with him but he never liked her as her face always made him remember about Anna but still he married her. After getting the news that his wife is pregnant, he packed his suitcases and left. He wrote a letter to his family saying sorry and said, "I'm so afraid of losing something that I refuse to love anything" (Jonathan Safran to destroying of two lives, one his own and other of Anna's sister.
