If UN troops departed, the whole region will become chaotic again and local people will not be able to live safely in their city. Another vital work of the UN is that the PKF (peacekeeping force) plays a role of resisting terrorists. Because instability exists in many poor African countries, peacekeepers have to find themselves in the role of policeman to protect civilians. According to UN peacekeepers in Africa (2012), "But most Liberians applaud the UN. 'Without them there would be fighting,' says a bar owner in the town of Ganta, in the east of the country. " In most cases, policemen in backward countries like Liberia are often not well armed, there is no doubt that Liberian people need some other forces to help them maintain order, which makes the PKF becomes the best choice. In short, the UN has mostly succeeded in preventing wars and promoting the world peace.
Secondly, the UN helps reduce the social inequality to some extent like food crisis, recourse allocation and education. As everyone knows, drought and famine happen every year in many countries all over the world, people no doubt need support to save them from hunger. The UN's World Food Program has effectively prevented the possible threats of food crisis. As Nossel (2005) mentioned, the UN feed 104 million people a year in 80 countries including people in war zones, natural disaster situations, health emergencies, and plain poor countries. Thousands of people survived from starvation with the help of the UN. There is little doubt that the UN deserves to be praised in solving food crisis. Moreover, some organizations like UNICEF will educate children and lead to the improvement of human capital. In many countries around the world, significantly less public resources are used to educate children in the poorest 20 per cent of society than their counterparts in the most affluent 20 per cent, according to a new report issued today by UNICEF.
