Musical Instrument Overview - The Trumpet


            
             This project is written on the trumpet, one of the most versatile instruments invented. This piece consists of the introduction and a discussion section. The discussion section will identify the various points that will be elaborated upon as well as providing the main bulk of the project. Above all this writing piece will educate its reader in the various aspects of the trumpet, furthering their knowledge as well as well as giving them the opportunity to discover the glorious and effulgent world of the instrument that is the trumpet.              INTRODUCTION.
             The trumpet is an instrument rich in history and culture, having led to and come from the same source as many other brass instruments (Internet 2). The trumpet is a brass aerophone that comes in various pitches and sizes. The most common trumpets are the B flat, C and E flat. A few well known trumpet players are: Giovanni Pellegrino Brandi, Valentine Snow, Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis and Wynton Marsalis (Wade-Matthews, M and Thompson, W). Trumpets have been in use since the 1560's and thus have grown in popularity in composers as well as performers, one of the first composers to use the trumpet in a performance was Monteverdi in his opera, Orfeo, in 1607(Wade-Matthews, M and Thompson, W).
             In my opinion the magnificent and hubristic sound that the trumpet produces has irreplaceably influenced the world of music and more importantly, composition. The trumpets incredible versatility and the ability to write for it as both a grand solo instrument or playing a quiet accompanying part in any form of band, be it an orchestra, jazz band or even a band playing more modern styles of music (e.
