The Importance of Teachers in Education

This quote shows that students view the people who are supposed to be instructing them as people not being interested in their job at all. The effect this has on students is that, during the duration of the class, whatever is being taught is not being learned because all the students care about is how much longer it will take for class to be dismissed. .
On the other hand, if a teacher did possess the proper knowledge needed to help a student they hold it back from them. This is the case in an article named "In the Basement of the Ivory Tower" by Professor X, where Professor X has all the tools needed to help a struggling student but since he has seen "the wall of defeat and hopelessness and humiliation" (242) go up, he does not even bother trying with the student anymore. Instead, he only makes suggestions to the student which does not seem to be effective either. The problem with all of this is that if a majority of the teachers are like the ones described above then this means that the future generation of young people are not learning all that they can. If students have teachers who teach how to be bored or teachers that do not teach because they feel that the student is incapable of learning, then this is unfortunate because students spend so many years in school and for what? To graduate without having learned much all of those years? By having a teacher who is enthusiastic about both their job and the students' learning ensures that the students will get the most out of their education. In some cases, having a great teacher can even encourage scholars to reach for the stars and never give up on their pursuit for knowledge.
If a person has ever had a teacher who makes learning hassle free then they know the difference it makes when it comes to getting the most out of school. I have been fortunate enough to encounter a numerous amount of these magnificent teachers throughout the years and know firsthand the effects it had on my learning.
