            The first recognized case of AIDS in the United States was in the year 1980s. A high percentage of gay men in New York City and California were starting to develop a certain rare opportunistic infection and a cancer. Treatment for the disease was futile. Around that time aids didn't have its name just yet. But it became know that all the men were suffering the same problem from the same syndrome. That ended up making the discovery of the HIV virus. Acquired immune syndrome was identified in the 80s. It's a disease that is caused by infection of HIV. Human immunodeficiency virus infection starts by doing damage towards your immune system which starts to interfere with your body ability to fight disease causing organisms. It can be transmitted through contact with blood that is infected sperm or vaginal fluids. .
             The origin of it has had scientist puzzled since it first came to light. The subjects were injection drug users and gay males they all showed symptoms of PCP which is a rare opportunistic infection occur in people who have a much compromised immune systems. After all that an unexpected number of homosexual men started to develop skin cancer that is quite rare called Kaposi or KS for short. There were so many more cases of PCP and KS emerging that the control and prevention and a CDC was monitoring to keep control of the outbreak. .

             There are plenty of ways to prevent you from getting aids. The use of a condom during intercourse can reduce your chances of having HIV transmission by almost 80% over the long run. When males use condoms the infection is less than 1% a year.
