The Marriage of Figaro

The Marriage of Figaro was an instant success throughout the opera community with the way it did early on. Many people have seen this play and it is performed all over the world. I really did enjoy this performance on Youtube. This was definitely a little different seeing the performance on Youtube instead of going and seeing the opera performed in person. Overall, I really enjoyed the performance and I thought the smooth tones throughout the performance were quite peaceful. Mozart was one of the most prolific composers of his time, for that matter of all time. He is widely known around the world for his musical pieces and even his opera. This opera was actually not done by Mozart's willingness. Mozart actually was ordered by King Joseph to compose the piece. Before I even listened to the opera on Youtube I had actually heard of this opera before. Last year I attended Belmont Abbey which is a private division II college in Belmont, North Carolina and we had a class there called First Year Symposium. During this class we went to an actual live performance of "The Marriage of Figaro" in downtown Charlotte. All in all, this piece was quite humorous and is still a favorite in the opera world.
I thought the performance was pretty cool and I really enjoyed it. It was a roller coaster when it came to the different pitches and tones throughout the performance and I mean that in a good way. The way the pitches and tones changed throughout the performance kept me on the edge of my seat in a sense. No opera composed before "The Marriage of Figaro" can be compared with it when it comes to the ensemble, smoothness of the melody, the different parts that all come together with the orchestra. The crazy thing to me is the fact that this is one of the greatest operas of all time in most people's opinion but it only took Mozart a month to compose it. This is definitely a comical piece but it also has some romantic feeling alongside it.
