            Many of Hawthorne's stories describe peoples' emotions in good detail. Heidegger's Experiment" is all about people and their emotions. The first part of the story describes each different character's life and how they have messed it up terribly. He lets you get to know the characters well on the inside so the story has more of an impact on the reader. Then he ends up describing them emotionally after they have taken a drink from the waters of the fountain of youth that shows how they have reverted back to their old naive selves. He does all this while teaching a lesson about life. Also in "The Ministers Black Veil," Hawthorne goes into great detail on how the people react emotionally to the black veil the minister was wearing.
